Week 17 picks

Last week of the regular season. After a disappointing week 15, we rallied to our plateau of .500 by going 8-8. It's time to close the regular season out hot, though. So here goes our week 17 picks. Enjoy...

Dolphins (+4.5) v. PATS
NE is not gonna play all their guys all game and Tony Sparano and Chad Henne are feeling the heat.

BTPC pick = Miami taking the 4.5

Bills (+8) v. JETS
We like the Bills for the same reason we like Miami. However...Brian Brohm may be starting for the Bills so we're not quite as sure on this one.

BTPC pick = Bills getting the 8.

Cowboys (+10) v. EAGLES
Garrett is trying to remove the interim from his title and Dallas gets to dump Roy Williams after this season.

BTPC pick = Cowboys taking the 10.

Giants (-4) v. REDSKINS
Is Tom Coughlin feeling heat? We actually kinda like the Shannahans here to continue to prove they were right picking Rex Grossman over the Campbell's Soup Spokeswoman's son.

BTPC pick = Skins taking the 4.

Steelers (-5.5) v. BROWNS
The 'Burgh is playing for the #2 seed in the AFC and a first round bye. Cleveland is playing for...Eric Mangini's job? We'll take the first one.

BTPC pick = Steelers laying the 5.5

RAVENS (-9.5) v. Bengals
The Ravens are hoping the Steelers lose and this game gives them the #2 seed. 9.5 is a lotta points, but you do have Carson Palmer throwing on a football field Ed Reed will be on. There could be like 4 pick sixes this game.

BTPC pick = Ravens laying the 9.5

Vikes (+3) v. LIONS
The Joe Webb Ride continues. My god...look at the size of his hands!

BTPC pick = Vikes taking the 3.

PACKERS (-10) v. Bears
Warning, if Atlanta wins their 1pm game, this game could be rendered meaningless for the Bears because they'll have locked in the #2 NFC seed. That's right...da Bears. Wow.

BTPC pick = Bears getting 10.

Titans (+9.5) v. COLTS
This could be Fisher's last game for the Titans. And he's playing his man crush, Peyton.

BTPC pick = Titans taking the 9.5

TEXANS (-3) v. Jags
The Jags will be without Garrard and MJD and it took a hail mary to win last time.

BTPC pick = Texans laying 3.

FALCONS (-14.5) v. Panthers
Falcons playing for the #1 seed in the NFC. Panthers...Jimmy Fox's last game. We'll take the first.

BTPC pick = Falcons laying 14.5

BUCS (+7.5) v. Saints
Josh Freeman and the upstart Bucs or Peyton and his veteran team in a game they'll be scoreboard watching until pulling the starters once Atlanta gets to pounding on Carolina. We'll take the first.

BTPC pick = UPSET SPECIAL! Bucs getting the 7.5

CHIEFS (-3.5) v. Raiders
KC could clinch the 3rd seed in the AFC. Wow.

BTPC pick = KC laying the 3.5

BRONCOS (+3.5) v. Chargers
So much for that Charger December record awesomeness. Could the state of Denver explode if Tebow wins this game? Yes...but Phil Rivers is gonna pop that ballon. There's only room for one supercharged egotistical gunslinger in the AFC West.

BTPC pick = San Diego laying the 3.5

Cards (+6.5) v. 49ERS
Uh...take the points?

BTPC pick = Cards taking the 6.5

Rams (-3) v. SEAHAWKS
Charlie Whitehurst v. Sam Bradford. We'll take the latter.

BTPC pick = Rams laying the 3

Week 16 picks

It's a good thing we got our bragging out of the way last week for the back-to-back 10 win weeks, because man...did we screw the pooch last week. 6-10...ouch. But that's ok, we're getting right back on the horse. With our twitter picks for Thursday and Satruday's games, we are...SHOCKER...1-1 so far this week. Let's this thing turned around. Week 16 picks...engage...now.

Lions (+3.5) v. DOLPHINS
BTPC pick = Miami laying 3.5

Vikings (+14) v. EAGLES
BTPC pick =Eagles laying 14

SKINS (+7) v. Jags
BTPC pick =Skins getting 7

49ERS (+2) v. Rams
BTPC pick =49ers getting 2

SEAHAWKS (+6) v. Bucs
BTPC pick =Seahawks getting 6

BILLS (+8) v. Pats
BTPC pick =Bills getting 8

Jets (+2.5) at BEARS
BTPC pick =Chicago laying 2.5

BROWNS (+3.5) v. Ravens
BTPC pick =Ravens laying 3.5

Titans (+5) v. CHIEFS
BTPC pick =Chiefs laying 5

Colts (-3) v. RAIDERS
BTPC pick =Raiders getting 3.

Texans (-2.5) v. BRONCOS
BTPC pick =Broncos getting 2.5

PACK (-3) v. Giants
BTPC pick =Pack laying 3

Chargers (-8) v. BENGALS
BTPC pick =Chargers laying 8

CNN says goodbye to the Crypt Keeper: Larry King

This past Thursday night marked the end of a 25-year run for dead-on ringer for HBO's Tales From The Crypt Crypt Keeper, Larry King on CNN.

How King managed to survive for 25 years is beyond us, as his prowess as an interviewer was far from great. In fact, the LA Times did a piece last week showing some of the top gaffes King made during that run. Boy...King sure did "prepare" for work, huh?

Our favorite? Seinfeld's "Do you know who I am?"

Don't worry DADT proponents, history shows passing over into the Gay Way makes badass fighting forces

Look no further than our victory over the Russians in Top Gun...

DADT is Dead and it is absolutely Faaaabulouuuuus...

The US Senate actually stepped up and did something long overdue today, they ended a government-devised and instituted policy of discrimination. With today's repeal of the the purely anti-American Don't Ask, Don't Tell policy of homosexuals serving in the United States Armed Forces, the United States Senate did two things.

First, it ended a terribly stupid policy that should have never been instituted to begin with, since it goes against the very freedoms that our armed forces are supposed to be protecting.

Second, they ensured that John McCain will forever be remembered as a bigoted, petty little man on the wrong side of history.

To all our gay and lesbian brothers and sisters: Congrats. One hurdle down, one more to go. Legalize gay marriage.

BTW, the picture at the top is actually a picture of McCain and some shipmates during the war...when they were all "in the Naaaavyyyy..."

Week 15 picks: BTPC is en fuego...

Week 15. At the risk of riling up the gambling gods, let us take a moment to remind you that we have been red hot the last two weeks (21-9-1). YOWZA! Can we keep it up? Who knows? That's why we figured we better brag about it while we could. Can't brag about our fantasy football team anymore, as Sexual Napalms season unfortunately went the way of the Mayer-Simpson relationship last week in the first round of the playoffs. Oh well...on to the picks. Enjoy.

49ers (+9.5) v. CHARGERS
This game actually means something, as both teams are fighting to win their division. Vincent Jackson is back for the Chargers and last week, it seemed like you could tell a difference for the offense. The 49ers have someone back too, unfortunately for them, it's QB Alex Smith.

BTPC pick = Chargers laying the 9.5

Bills (+5.5) v. DOLPHINS

Saints (+1) v. RAVENS
The Ravens almost choked it to Matt Schaub and Gary Kubiak. Sean Peyton and Breesus are a little better, plus you're getting a point.

BTPC pick = Saints getting 1.

Texans (+1.5) v. TITANS
Wow, listening to the comment coming out of the Titans camp, it sounds like the 'stache has lost at least part of the locker room. Plus, Kubiak has to want to beat Fisher to keep him from getting his job as soon as Bud Adams picks the Tequila-swilling, headcase QB over the longest-tenured NFL coach in the league, right?

BTPC pick = Texans getting 1.5

Cardinals (+2.5) v. PANTHERS
Allow us to channel Pink Floyd for this game: Helloooooo....Is there anybody in there? Just nod if you can here me? Is there anyone watching this game? Other than Andrew Luck? Claussen rises to try to convince the powers to be not to take Luck. It ain't gonna work, but we just can't take the Panther when they're not getting points.

BTPC pick = Cards getting 2.5

Browns (+1) v. BENGALS
At what point to the Bengals sit Carson Palmer out by the curb like a Christmas tree post December 25th?

BTPC pick = Browns getting the point.

COWBOYS (-6) v. Redskins
Skins start Rex Grossman. This ain't Florida and the SEC.

BTPC pick = Cowboys giving 6.

Jags (+4.5) v. COLTS
We like Indy here, but these games are always close. 4.5 is too much

BTPC pick = Jags getting 4.5.

GIANTS (-3) v. Eagles
The Giants have been relying on Miami discard Derrick Hagan at WR.

BTPC pick = Eagles getting 3.

Lions (+5.5) v. BUCS
This was lining up to be the two top rookie DTs until McCoy got hurt.

BTPC pick = Lions getting 5.5.

RAMS (+1) v. Chiefs
Bradford or Coyle?

BTPC pick = Rams getting 1.

FALCONS (-7) v. Seahawks
West coast team traveling to East coast, where the east coast team plays very, very well.

BTPC pick = Falcons laying 7.

Jets (+6) v. STEELERS
The Steelers are hurting. Troy P will not play. 6 points is a lot, but it ain't exactly like the Jets have scored a lot lately. Warning: this pick could be heavily influenced by the fact that we want the Jets to lose to see the feeding frenzy that will ensue afterwards.

BTPC pick = Steelers laying 6.

RAIDERS (-6.5) v. Broncos
Uh...Tebow is gonna start?

BTPC pick = Raiders laying 6.5

PATRIOTS (-11) v. Packers
No Aaron Rodgers

BTPC pick = Pats laying 11.

Bears (-6) v. VIKINGS
Would really like to pick the Vikes playing an outdoors home game in like 29 years. But I'm not even sure who their QB is.

BTPC pick = Bears laying 6.

BTPC Exclusive: NY Jets Tripgate exposed

After the news today that the NY Jets had changed strength & conditioning Coach Sam Alosi's suspension to "indefinite" status following the admission that Alosi had ordered several inactive players beside him to form a blockade line, the BTPC gained this exclusive interview with Alosi.

BTPC: Do you recall why you put players in a line?

ALOSI: I'm sure I don't. I have many men in my charge, 'Pine, I make them stand in many lines.

BTPC: Do you recall an incident involving a blockade line with the Miami Dolphins and Nolan Carroll?

ALOSI: Yes.

BTPC: Did you report the line to the proper authorities?

ALOSI: I have two books at my bedside, 'Pine, the NFL Player Code of Conduct and the King James Bible. The only proper authorities I'm aware of are my Head Coach, Rex Ryan and the Lord our God.

BTPC: Did you report the Miami blocking line to your superiors?

ALOSI: I remember thinking very highly of Coach Westoff and Coach Ryan and not wanting to see their images tarnished by a formal charge of systematic cheating.

BTPC: You preferred it to be handled within the unit.

ALOSI: I most certainly did.

BTPC: Coach Alosi, do you know what a Code Red is?

ALOSI: Yes I do.

BTPC: Have you ever ordered a Code Red?

ALOSI: No, I have not.

BTPC: Did you order those inactive players to make sure that no Dolphin gunners would have room if forced outside?

ALOSI: That is a distortion of the truth. Those players were simply watching the game action, only during kicks, in a uniform fashion, side-by-side, as close to the white line as possible. I assure you that at no time were they trying to in any way effect Mr. Carroll's ability to cover that punt.

BTPC: I'm sure it was lovely for Mr. Carroll, but you did order those players to form that line and you did stick your knee out and trip Mr. Carroll.

ALOSI: Yes.

BTPC: Wouldn't this form of coaching be considered a Code Red?

ALOSI: Not necessarily.

BTPC: If I called the other 31 teams in the league and asked them to testify, would they call it a Code Red?

ALOSI: 'Pine, I believe in God, and in his son Jesus Christ, and because I do, I can say this: Nolan Carroll tripped and that's a tragedy. But he tripped because he had no code. He's tripped because we have no honor. And God was watching.

After the above, we secured the following interview with NY Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan:

BTPC: Coach Ryan, prior to the game against the Miami Dolphins, you had a meeting with your Special Teams Coach and your Strength & Conditioning Coach, is that right?

RYAN: Yes.

BTPC: And at present, Coach Alosi is indefinitely suspended without pay and has been fined an additional $25,000 dollars, is that right?

NY Jets GM Mike Tannenbaum: Surely you didn't ask for this interview for Coach Ryan to confirm that information.

BTPC: I just wasn't sure if Coach Ryan knew that the NY Jets organization had thrown one of his assistants completely under the bus. But I'll move on. Coach Ryan, at the time of this meeting, you gave Coach Westoff an order, it that right?

RYAN: I ordered Westoff that Carroll was not to be touched.

BTPC: And did you give an order to Coach Alosi as well?

RYAN: I told Alosi to tell everyone to stay away from the sideline.

BTPC: Why?

RYAN: I felt Nolan Carroll would be in danger if our players were too close to the sideline.

BTPC: Grave danger?

RYAN: Is there another kind?

BTPC: Coach Ryan, we have in our possession two playbooks, the NY Jets playbook and the NY Jets Special Teams playbook. Both of these two playbooks make no mention of the sideline blockade line.

Tannenbaum: I don't understand, you have two playbooks that prove a play that never existed?

BTPC: We believe it did. *Glancing over at Danny Woodhead and David Clowney* We're prepared to call Danny Woodhead and David Clowney, both former NY Jets players who played on the special teams units for the Jets.

RYAN: This is ridiculous.

BTPC: Coach, a moment ago...

RYAN: Check the playbooks for christ's sake.

BTPC: We'll get to the former players in just a minute. A moment ago, you said that you ordered Westoff to order the men not to touch Carroll.

RYAN: That's right.

BTPC: And Westoff was clear on what you wanted?

RYAN: Crystal.

BTPC: Any chance Westoff ignored the order?

RYAN: Not a chance.

BTPC: Any chance Westoff ignored the order?

RYAN: Ignored the order?

BTPC: Any chance he just forgot about it?

RYAN: No.

BTPC: Any chance Westoff left your office and said, "The fat man's wrong."?

RYAN: No.

BTPC: When Westoff spoke to the team and told them not to touch Carroll, any chance they ignored him?

RYAN: You ever played on a NFL team, son?

BTPC: No sir.

RYAN: Ever played special teams?

BTPC: No sir.

RYAN: Ever held hands with three other players and formed a wedge as 250 plus pound men running like missles came flying at you?

BTPC: No sir.

RYAN: We follow orders son. We follow orders or people lose their jobs. Are we clear?

BTPC: Yes sir.

RYAN: Are we clear?

BTPC: Crystal.

BTPC: Coach...I just have one more question before I call Danny Woodhead and David Clowney: If you gave an order that Carroll wasn't to be touched, and your orders are always followed, then why would he be in danger? Why would it be necessary for Alosi to order the players to keep away from the sideline?

RYAN: Nolan Carroll was a sub-standard gunner. We had to keep players from the sideline because...

BTPC: But that's not what you said. You said they had to stay away from the sideline because Carroll was in grave danger.

RYAN: Yes...that's correct, but...

BTPC: You said, "He was in danger." I said, "Grave danger." You said--

RYAN: Yeah, I know...

BTPC: I can have the transcript read back to you...

RYAN: I know what I said. I don't need it read back to me...

BTPC: Then why the two orders?

*silence*

BTPC: Coach?

RYAN: Sometimes men take matters into their own hands.

BTPC: No sir. You made it clear that your men never take matters into their own hands. Your men follow orders or people lose their jobs. So Carroll shouldn't have been in any danger at all, should he have, Coach?

RYAN: You little bastard.

BTPC: If Westoff told the players that Carroll wasn't to be touched, then why did the players have to keep back from the sidelines?

*silence*

BTPC: Westoff ordered the Code Red, didn't he? Because that's what you told Westoff to do.

Tannenbaum: Object!

BTPC: And then when it went bad, you two cut Alosi loose. You doctored the playbooks. I'll ask you again: You ordered...

RYAN: You want answers?

BTPC: I think I'm entitled to them.

RYAN: You want answers?!

BTPC: I want the truth.

RYAN: You can't handle the truth! Son, we live in a world that has games. And those games have to be coached by men with guts. Who's gonna coach those games? You? I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Carroll and you curse the NY Jets. You have that luxury. You have the luxury of not knowing what I know: that Carroll's trip, while tragic, almost helped us win the game. And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, almost wins games. You don't want the truth, because deep down in places you don't talk about parties, you want me on that sideline, you need me on that sideline. We use words like sideline, blocking, players...we use these words as the backbone of a life spent cheating. You use them as a punchline.

I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and cheers the very games I lose, then questions the manner in which I lose them. I'd prefer you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I suggest you pick up a headset and coach a game. Either way, I don't give a damn what you think you're entitled to.

BTPC: Did you order the Code Red?

RYAN: I did the job I was hired to do.

BTPC: Did you order the Code Red?

RYAN: You're goddamn right I did!

Stay classy, New York Jets...

The New York Jets lost 10-6 today to our beloved Miami Dolphins, despite the fact that Miami looked absolutely atrocious on offense and to say the officiating was horrendous would be an epic failure because it would imply that there actually was some officiating going on. The Jets offensive line was tackling Miami DE Cameron Wake by the facemask when they couldn't wrap their arms around him, Braylon Edwards was balling up CB Vontae Davis jersey so bad offensively interfering with passes that all you could read on Davis' jersey was "DA--S" of his name, and Joe McKnight ran right into Davonne Bess on a fair catch. But Miami still pulled out the win. How? It's called KARMA, Rex Ryan...you classless sum bitch. Next time you wanna make your opponent's draft bust (WR Patrick Turner) a captain to tweak them (despite the fact he ain't done shit for you) and you wanna have your inactive players trip the opposing players as they cover kicks (see photo above), remember...The Football Gods Are Watching.

Even a douche like Fireman Ed knows you can't do that shit. Look how disappointed Fireman Ed was in you...

Now let's go grab a snack!

Fareed Zakaria Pwns! Glenn Beck

Glenn Beck is a moron. It wouldn't be so bad that he's completely full of shit if there weren't thousands of idiots who actually listen to the nonsense Beck spews and swallow it as gospel. Not that any of them would ever listen to what a "furahnarh" like a dude named Fareed Zakaria has to say. But if they would, they'd see just how stupid their "real American" hero is.

Week 14 Picks

Good week last week. 10-5-1. Let's keep it up. Enjoy...

Colts (-3.5) v. TITANS
You thought for sure Peyton would step it up after costing them the previous game last week. You were wrong. Lucky for him, he's playing a team that seems to have sold out their coach.

Peyton has spent all week hearing how washed up he is. Think he's ready? Plus, how can you forget Fisher wearing that Peyton jersey that time.

BTPC pick = Colts laying the 3.5

Raiders (+4) v. JAGS
After shocking the Chargers, the Raiders continue their Jeckyl and Hyde existence by coming back to earth versus the Jags. More importantly, can Mike Sims-Walker do anything for Sexual Napalm in the first round of the fantasy playoffs?

BTPC pick = Jags laying 4.

STEELERS (-8.5) v. Bengals
Steelers surprised everyone, except the Pine(!), pulling it out versus the Ravens. They'll win again against the lowly Bengals, but not by that much.

BTPC pick = Bengals getting 8.5

Pats (-3) v. BEARS
Letdown game for Pretty Boy Brady? No.

BTPC pick = Pats laying 3.

BILLS (-1) v. Browns
Just like the Bills to screw up getting the #1 pick.

BTPC pick = Bills laying 1.

Giants (-2.5) v. VIKINGS
We'll take the Vikes getting points at home. Plus, HIM will have to come out and play well since his backup got props for replacing him last week. It's always gotta be about HIM.

BTPC pick = Vikes getting the 2.5

Packers (-6.5) v. LIONS
Like the Lions to keep this one close at home.

BTPC pick = Lions getting 6.5

Falcons (-7) v. PANTHERS
New rumor: Harbaugh leaves Stanford, takes Panthers job, selects Luck with first pick.

BTPC pick = Falcons laying 7.

Bucs (-2) v. SKINS
Man...have times fallen for the Skins to be getting 2 at home against the Bucs. And we're not talking about the John Gruden, Warren Sapp Bucs neither. With Haynesworth finally gone, Skins win one with the cancer

BTPC pick = UPSET SPECIAL, Skins getting 2.

SAINTS (-9) v. Rams
Saints almost blew it versus the Bengals. Rams don't have the WRs to keep up.

BTPC pick = Saints laying 9

49ERS (-5) v. Seahawks
Think Singletary is feeling the heat yet in San Fran?

BTPC pick = Seahawks getting 5.

JETS (-5.5) v. Dolphins
How bad must Rex Ryan have felt after getting his ass handed to him and his team failing to cash the checks Ryan's mouth wrote leading up to the big game versus the Pats this past week? He spent time during his presser talking about how "loaded" the Miami offense was. BTW, was it just us did California boy Sanchez look really, really cold Monday night? Henne is from Pittsburgh and played 4 years in Ann Arbor.

BTPC pick = Miami getting the 5.5

Broncos (-5.5) v. CARDS
How bad are the Cards that the Broncos are playing at their stadium, just fired their Head Coach and are still laying 5.5 to them? Ouch. Interim coach rule in effect here, but does it apply to a "running backs coach"?

BTPC pick = Cards getting the 5.5

CHARGERS (-7) v. Chiefs
This game has actually been taken off the board in Vegas while they try to figure out if Cassel will in fact play after having an appendectomy. The Chargers got run on by the Raiders. Chiefs are better running team. We don't think Cassel plays.

BTPC pick = Chargers laying 7.

Eagles (-3.5) v. COWBOYS
Would Jerry Jones trade Tony Romo for Michael Vick, straight up? Hmmmm. Vick has won a playoff game...

BTPC pick = Eagles laying the 3.5

Ravens (-3) v. TEXANS
Ravens take out their frustrations over the loss to the Steelers on Matt Schaub. Sorry, Matt.

BTPC pick = Ravens laying 3.
